Swine flu vacation

Well, we just got the call that school here in Comal County Texas is closed immediately until May 11th. That's 8 school days off and 4 weekend days. The kids are soooo excited, the call came right at bedtime and of course they are now "staying up late" because there is no school tomorrow. But the logistics of it all are crazy. Proms cancelled, track/soccer/baseball games all cancelled. State wide testing postponed, no idea if we have to make up these days and go into summer....WOW!! They are certainly being overly cautious...but maybe they are right...we shall see.

We had our family pictures taken about a month ago and I'm still trying to decide which one to get for our big 16x24 mantel photo. With 6 different people, and one bright neon green cast, it's hard to find one of all of us that I like. So I want to hear what you have to say. Which one would you send home, which one would you keep, and is there an all out winner. I'll letter them for easier commenting:

Children's Museum

For Friday's activities we had a photo session with my photographer friend, Natalie, at 9am at a beautiful rose garden/nursery here in Bulverde. It was a beautiful garden and I will definitely go there to find new things to add to our landscaping. Today though, it was for a girls photo shoot and it was an adventure. We had the four girls, age 3,3,4 and 5. They all did really well, especially since it was early in the morning AND it was raining. The photographer was a trooper, too, working with all 4 girls and trying to get simultaneous smiles!! We'll see how they turn out. After paying out our bribe(s) we headed to the children's museum in New Braunfels. It's a place for a little girls imagination to run wild. Here's McKinley blasting off in the spaceship:

And McKinley skate boarding...carefully balancing on the crazy board!!The other girls were just too busy to photograph. Rest assured they had a great time. It's still raining, but everyone is home playing fairly well. Everyone is starting to get tired from lack of sleep and so much fun, but we're trying to cram in as much as we can before the Fitlows have to travel home tomorrow afternoon. It's been such a fun cousin's visit!!

Lunch and a bouncy house!

On Thursday we were planning on going hiking at the Guadalupe River, but after lunch it was raining and we decided to head for the indoor bouncy, jumping house that just opened near our house. At first we had the entire place to ourselves and it was never very crowded. The girls each enjoyed the bouncy houses, bouncy slides, play areas, and the train table. Marlee and I went up the slide (and down)about a dozen times before I got too tired to do it again. It was a good alternate to rainy hiking.







After eating all of our lunch we got the Triple Chocolate Piezookie for dessert. It was a chocolate cookie with chocolate chunks in it, served with 2 scoops of chocolate ice-cream with chocolate chips, topped with a dark chocolate and chocolate fudge. Sounds perfect...and it was!!! It was finished off quickly by the 6 of us. Even the train table was interesting at the bouncy house. It's amazing how the toys they have at home that don't get played with much are oh so fun at a different place!

McKinley was quick to climb up all the slides and to do them "over and over" without stopping.

Swimming fun!

This week my sister and her three girls came from SLC to visit us here in sunny San Antonio. On Wednesday we headed to the pool to have some fun. The girls were so cute in their bright swimsuits and the bright sun. Vicky and I sat poolside and watched the girls giggle and play in the water. The water was still a little chilly, but it was a nice sunny day and we all kept warm. It was a lot of wet fun.

Family in Texas

This past week we've had some family visitors out to see us here in Texas!! It's always fun to have family come out and this has been no different. David's sister Kimberlee came out during her Spring Break and we've had lots of fun going around doing different things. The first day here we were able to do a session at our beautiful temple here in San Antonio. I know I'm biased, but our temple is sooo beautiful and it's always a great place to go and worship. It was nice to have some company and to show off the stained glass windows of our temple. You can't capture the beauty of them in a picture, but when you're sitting inside with the light shining through they are amazing!!
There wasn't anyone around to take our picture, so we did this one ourselves!!

On Thursday, David's other sister Cynthia came out from Arizona to visit us. Her husband is here for a conference and I begged her to come out and see us. After making arrangments for her kiddos she was able to be here for about 2 days. On her first full day here it was 95 degrees and a little humid, so it was perfect Texas weather. We made our way to the Alamo and the riverwalk for the day. Here we are out front...we found someone to take our picture for this one.

That night we all met up in San Antonio for some awesome Mexican food at Papasittos. It's a favorite of ours and we stuffed ourselves silly with food and two tablesized desserts. Eating is a must on any vacation and we came through with that!

Friday we spent the morning sleeping in and recovering from our meal. It was nice to have the kids off from school and to have a lazy morning. We made sure we were showered and dressed by 2pm when David and Chad got off work and came home to spend the afternoon together. Kimberlee and I made a trip to the Canyon Lake dam and walked the dog along the top of the dam. It was a tad windy but it was stilll a beautiful day.

And finally, Saturday morning started bright and early with a couple early soccer games. The Easter bunny made his appearance the night before and the kids were candied up for the rest of the day. Here's McKinley acting very pleased with her Easter basket:

Chad and Cynthia have returned back to Arizona and Kimberlee still has a few days left with us. We're off to dance class and the orthopedic doctor tomorrow, with soccer/baseball practice in the evening. Tuesday I've got to go to work for a while and my sister and her girls come in that afternoon. We'll all hang out for a day and then Kimberlee has to go back to the cold in Utah. I'll continue to host family until the 18th and then I'll have to catch up on some housework that has been sadly neglected while I'm off playing. But you only have family once (it seems!!) so we're having fun!!

Doggon sleep

Does this look comfortable? Is his spine supported and aligned on his mattress? Are there pressure points that cause him pain? NOPE. He's dead to the world and sleeps like this for hours. No fair!!
