Father's Day 2011

This year for Father's Day we went really simple. The kids and I had gone to the library and made cute Father's Day cards. Each of the kids wrote nice letters to David. Ethan thanked him "for always being there for me". McKinley wrote "I hope you have a job by December" (??) and Evan wrote "you're the best dad a boy could have!". Austin was out of town and simply gave his Dad a hug! It was great. We did buy a game, but we haven't played it yet. Who says summer isn't busy!?

This is the mushy part:
David is a great dad. I love watching him with the kids. Over the past few months he has been able to do so many fun things because he has the time. He loves to play with the kids and is very active with them. That's a great thing especially with the boys. I love his spiritual side and the way he teaches the kids - he can find those teaching moments! I think about all the demands on dad's these days and David has stepped up to all of them. He's the best!

McKinley turns 7 years old

On Friday, McKinley celebrated her 7th birthday. So strange that she could possibly be that old. My baby girl! But she is a beautiful, kind, loving, and sassy young lady. She was very excited about her birthday and showed great enthusiasm as she opened her presents. She got a new big girl bike (that she learned to ride today), a FurReal GoGo Dog (named Monica) a 4G MP3 player (that she loaded with Taylor Swift and Katy Perry songs), a make up set (see previous post about how that goes) and other small things to make a very memorable birthday. She chose cheesecake as her birthday cake and had a big pizza party for her dinner. All in all it was a great birthday for McKinley! Happy Birthday big girl.

Make Up Artists!

McKinley and her cousins, Paige and Emma took some time to put make-up on. Don't they look beautiful?!!

Freezer meal group

I recently found out about a group of mom's who belong to a freezer meal group. After asking about the details of the group I was invited to join. I did my first month last week and it was fun! I made 8 9x13 freezer meals and went to the exchange and came home with 8 different meals for the month of June. My meal was pork chops with scalloped potatoes. We ate ours for Sunday dinner and it was ok. I would make some changes, but for my first time it was ok. I love the idea and have really enjoyed pulling a meal out of the freezer on the mornings we are very busy and having a good dinner. July will be BBQ month, so we'll have marinated and sauced meats to pull out and throw on the grill. Thanks ladies for letting me in!
