Mommy Daughter Shots

Today we played hookie from school and made our way down to Corpus Christi for a few hours at the beach! David stole the camera from me and took some shots of McKinley and I when I was trying to make her laugh. She is such a fun little thing and we enjoy sharing these experiences as a family. She loved the beach and the water and the hermit crabs. It was very windy and very humid and almost 90 degrees!! We had a great visit to the beach...who needs school anyways??

District Bound Again!!

With a big win on Friday night and another win today we secured our first place finish in our league for U13 boys soccer....so we're off to Corpus Christi next weekend to compete in Western Disctricts. Our team has improved and learned to work together more this season...it's been great fun. This is also the last season for this team to be together since the club is merging with another club and teams will be jumbled up a bit. So these boys have been together for 6 seasons and this is it!! Go Rangers!

We Have a Winner!

David went to a presentation for work yesterday and he won the doorprize! He won a Dell Inspiron Mini Netbook! And he came home and gave it to me!! I've been wanting one for a while, but couldn't justify just buying one. But it's so nice! I now have a laptop with a built in microphone and camera, working USB ports, and an 8 hour battery! I am so excited!

I Hope He Calls

I was driving home from Costco today when I had one of those "ah ha" moments. For the past 4 days we have been waiting for important phone calls. Phone calls about possible job leads and calls about possible house offers. Waiting. Nervously waiting. As I was driving and thinking about how I was feeling, I flashed back to another chapter in my life...dating. I recognized the feelings I am having now have happened before. I remember dating, flirting, waiting, waiting for a phone call or a note, or a sign! When I liked a boy in high school (or college) I would analyze every interaction we had had. I would question how close we stood, if his hand touched mine "by accident" or if what he said really had a hidden message...I thought those days were long gone...thankfully long gone. But I find myself sitting her now trying to decode the messages of two sentences of realtor feedback and what it means. And the phone hasn't rung, and I'm still nervously waiting. Do they like me or not...just tell me, I can take it! It's the waiting that will kill me!

Sea World Field Trip

Our school's kindergarten field trip is a trip to Sea World San Antonio for an educational program. All the animal exhibits were open in the morning and then we had a show all about Shamu and the killer whales. I learned a lot about killer whales and how they train them there at Sea World. McKinley and I had a great mother-daughter day and she enjoyed me all to herself. Here she is with her friend Ella:

Easter Egg Hunts!

This year was a busy year for Easter egg hunts. McKinley had one at school with her kindergarten class, Evan and McKinley went to an egg roll at the soccer fields, and then wealso got invited to a friends house for another egg hunt on Easter night. Each one was fun and McKinley and Evan were good egg hunters. Austin and Ethan also found their eggs (with monetary incentive inside) after a good egg hunt in the back field!! Good job everyone!

Chickens grow FAST!!

Our cute, fuzzy chicks have quickly grown in to stinky molting, full feathered chickens! It's amazing how fast they grow. We are excited to have 2 brown, 2 black, 1 highlighted brown, and an all white chicken! They have been moved to the garage with their heat lamp as they are getting the rest of their feathers. We look forward to them being able to be outside where wild animals should be! For now, we take them out for "walks" and let them roam around a bit. They really are spoiled chickens!
