Four Corners

This year's road trip turned out to be a little different than we planned. David and I had planned a 3 day drive up via Four Corners, Flagstaff, and Fish Lake. My dad allowed us to take the travel trailer with us and we were going to enjoy staying at different campgrounds and "roughing it" a little.

But all that changed when David's job situation became unsettled. He got word that they were going to be closing the San Antonio office and he would be moved to a home office. That was good news (the working from home part) but it meant that he was going to have to be there to oversee the packers and the moving of the office. So it was up to me...I was going to do the trip solo.

So after packing up the trailer and the suburban we were on our way. We altered our route slightly, but still took a deter to Fish Lake to camp with family. Everything went smoothly, although there is no way around the fact that it's a long drive from SA to Utah. A few books on tape, a lot of movies, and some sleep made the time go faster. Our treat along the way was a small detour to the Four Corners Monument and standing in the four states at once!

The monument itself was very hot and each of the kids had to be quick with their hands on the different states. It's definitely one of those places that you visit just to say "you've been there". So we can check that one off the list and hopefully never have to journey out that way again.

Isn't that the truth? That place is in the middle of nowhere!

We've thought about during each of our SA to Utah road trips but still haven't done that. How far "out of the way" is it? Despite your enthusiasm about the detour, it does still just seem like one of the things we should do just to say we did.
Are you home yet????

It definitely is a been there, done that type of place. Bill is from that part of the world -- Monticello, Utah. It's a lot prettier though. :)

Ah yes, I remeber the heat. Metal monument, bare hands, scortching heat, quick pic and get back in the air conditioned car!
