Smith Girls Trip 2011
First up was making our cute washer necklaces. Susan was the pro at teaching us this craft and we enjoyed picking our papers and washers and making beautiful necklaces out of them.
The trip ended with all of us attending church with Allison and packing up, cleaning up, and driving home. We all agreed it was a wonderful trip and we're planning on making it an annual event! What a fun family we've got!

Look what I found!
I was going through pictures on the small camera I keep in my purse and I found this:

David's birthday
Yesterday was David (and his brother Mark's) birthday and we celebrated with TONS of family. We invited both sides of our family over to have some cake and ice cream. David's choice of cake: carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Yum!
We had a great time visiting with everyone and the cousins made the biggest fort I have ever seen. The entire basement was covered in blankets and there were "rooms" for everyone. I should have taken a picture of it, but we were busy cleaning it up before bedtime.

Fencing Match
After 10 weeks of training, Ethan participated in his first fencing match. It was held at the fencing academy and he did very well. This was the first time they wore all the gear and were hooked up to the scoring machines that detect when a person is "hit". Ethan had 5 different matches and he won all five and was only hit twice! Pretty good. He enjoyed the class and trying something new.

On to a new smile!
The day has finally come that Austin got his braces on! He's been waiting for his teeth to come in, but we've determined that they are not coming in and so they are going to go up and pull them down with chains. Doesn't that sound lovely! Poor guy! So on go the braces to make room for the teeth and then 3 chains and two wisdom teeth out at the oral surgeon. Then bottom braces and finally rubber bands to change his jaw alignment. It's going to be a while 'til we see that perfect smile, but we're on our way. Hang in there buddy!
